5 Essential Items You Should Have in Your Car
Tips from a Towing Service Provider
What would you do if your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere? If it’s a major problem, you’ll definitely have to call a reputable towing service provider and ask them to rescue you. But, if it’s a minor issue, you can go the DIY route and see if you can fix your vehicle by yourself. Before you can do this, though, you should first have access to the right tools and accessories. We’ve listed some of them below:
Having a leaking tire is a sign that you should call your roadside towing company ASAP. But, if you can’t remember their number, or if you didn’t bring your mobile phone, you can at least get yourself to the nearest gas station by patching up the tire with some sealant and making it usable for a few miles.
There are times when your tire can no longer be fixed by a sealant and should be replaced. In this case, having a spare tire in your trunk can be a life-saver. Just make sure the spare is in good condition and doesn’t have any damage.
Having a spare tire is useless if you don’t have the right tools for tire changing. Because of this, you’ll need to keep a tire jack, a lug wrench, and a tire iron in your car. Otherwise, you’ll need to call a towing transportation company and ask them to change the tire for you.
Sockets, wrenches, and screwdrivers
You’ll need these tools to do many minor car repairs. Ideally, you should have them in a wide range of sizes but, if you have a tight budget, you can at least buy the basics. These include a Phillips screwdriver, a flat-head screwdriver, an adjustable wrench, and two socket wrenches in ⅜-inch and ½-inch sizes.
Before you do any car repair, place two reflective triangles 10 feet and 100 feet behind your car, respectively. Put another one 100 feet in front of your vehicle. By doing these, you’ll inform other motorists that you have a disabled vehicle and ensure they won’t run into you or your car.
Keep these items in your car to perform minor repairs wherever you go. If you find yourself stuck with major issues, call View Point Towing at (804) 298-7101. We’re a trusted towing service company in Richmond, VA and can assist you when your vehicle breaks down.
